Pin Up Yoga!

I wasn't entirely sure how this shoot was going to turn out. I mean, when I think of yoga I don't exactly think of a glammed out sex pot and vice versa. But to my pleasant surprise the shots came out beautifully. Mostly because of the amazing model, Amber Cook, and the perfect clothes lent out by Knee Deep Vintage. Also, Ramona Branch did an amazing vintage up-do for the shoot! Knee Deep is definitely THE place to find authentic vintage clothing, not only in Pilsen but in Chicago. Amber is many things to me. Mostly a great friend but also one of the best yoga instructors in Chicago. She is currently teaching at Moksha Yoga and this shoot was initiated by her unique sense of style and what yoga means to her. She is always doing something different than everyone else, specially when it comes to her ideas of yoga photography. Taken at the beach (yes in the middle of March, and you can't even tell! Amber was a champ) and at the Chicago Cultural Center.

I Heart Diana

I was recently inspired by a photography exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center featuring the work of Dan Zamudio. All the photos were taken using an old Diana camera. It's a cheap toy camera made in the 60's and 70's with tons of charm. Some of the charms include the light leaks and lack of complete focusing and framing control. You can get some very interesting photos without being a graphic designer using Photoshop. SO, I bet you can guess what I did next. Correct! I bought a Diana camera. The photos I've posted were taken in Memphis mostly at the Ornamental Metal Museum right on the Mississippi River. This was my second roll of film taken with the Diana and my first color roll. Not so bad.
